Went to work and it was dark. Left work it was dark. Looked at the weather forecast – rain and more rain. This shot of a sleepy little guy on a warm summer day reminds me that the sun will return.
Not a traditional shot of the ranch or the horse, but something about it appeals to me…
A break from the bird pictures. Decided to post something to go with the family feeling of Thanksgiving, and it’s a reminder of a sunny spring day.
Some shots from around the ranch that amused me.
I don’t think he was in the mood to be photographed…
“What’s going on out there???”
Playing “hide and go seek” with the horses can be fun, but it isn’t very challenging…
They looked very guilty when I walked by. I think they’re plotting something.
“I’m ready for my close-up….”
“It’s cold and cloudy and I’m bored….”
“On my back – still bored…”
I was taking some long exposure shots of the night sky, trying to get the focus right, and a plane flew over. The three lines are the lights on the wingtips and the tail of the plane, and the dots in the lines are the flashes of the lights.
I like shooting aircraft and other things in the sky – got a two-for-one here.
Another experiment in shooting the night sky. Camera was pointed almost straight up. You may notice the stars on the right side of the frame look like little dashes – that is from the motion of the stars across the sky during the exposure. Nikon D60, 35mm f/1.8G lens, 35 second exposure, f/3.2.
May not look like much, but I’m very happy to get this much detail without a telescope. Used my Nikon D60, a tripod, and an 18-200mm zoom lens. A 0.5 second exposure at f/5.6.
Thanks to Avital Pinnick, who published a great post on how to photograph Jupiter. http://apinnick.wordpress.com/2010/11/03/how-to-photograph-jupiter/
I was shooting a jet and a bird decided to join in. I like the combination – natural vs. mechanical flight.
I got this shot of a bird in flight near sunset. Something about it appeals to me, almost looks like a drawing.
One of the cats was in the barn by the window. I was shooting from outside. I like the effect of the reflection – looks like a double exposure.
Trying to capture the essence of an October afternoon…
