Cattle grazing in open range country along the Rocky Mountain Front near Augusta, Montana…
Prints, downloads, and licenses for this photo are available at my store site.
I need to give a shout out to my buddy, my partner in crime. She gets me everywhere I need to go. Even up and down some trails that would make a mountain goat pee itself a little. And she always gets me home safe. My truck. Her name is Ripley and I decided that it’s time to say thanks and dedicate a post to her.
While exploring Montana farm country I came upon the town of Judith Gap. A police car was blocking the road. The officer told me a parade was about to start celebrating the 100th anniversary of the opening of the town school. So I had to get a few snapshots… Update – I seem to be getting some visitors from Judith Gap – Welcome! – so I added a few more pictures.

Looks like summer to me!
Near Priest Pass, Montana. Altitude about 6000 feet.
Tried to cross Mullen Pass. Denied! Too much snow on the road.
Montana seems to have more cows than people. As I roam through their lands I often seem to develop a case of BTTS (Bovine Triggered Tourette Syndrome). I can’t help myself. So I decided it’s time to document my affliction and introduce a new occasional feature to the blog. Cow Annoying Time, or C.A.T. for short….
“Barbecue sauce? Does anyone have any barbecue sauce????”
“Don’t look at me like that. We all know your farts are causing global warming.”
“You are just a cheeseburger waiting to happen…”
