Monday is here again. This sums up how I’m feeling about it. Interpret any way you like…
“Did you want to take some photos of the clouds over the ranch? Am I in your way? I’m so weak from hunger… maybe if I had some carrots then I could move away from the fence…”
I was going to save this shot for a “Monday” post. But today was one of those generally crappy days where nothing seemed to go right. It may not have said Monday on the calendar but it sure felt like one. A big thank you (and a handful of carrots) to my old pal Sticks for perfectly expressing how I feel about today. Bleah.
This is Sticks practicing his “play dead” trick. Scared the heck out of me the first time I saw it. Any time the sun comes out it’s naptime for Sticks. You would think he got hit with a tranquilizer dart. Also explains why he is usually covered in mud.
I took a walk today to bring some treats to the horses. I ran out of carrots before I got to Sticks. He didn’t take it well.
Just a simple shot of the ranch. Sometimes a little sun, horses, and trees are all I need to have a good afternoon.
Luka getting some grooming, love, and attention.
Sometimes the horses act like children. Very big children. Sticks is having a bit of a meltdown because I gave some carrots to one of the other horses before visiting him.
Another grugly (gray and ugly) day at the ranch. But I decided to take a few shots anyway.
One of the horses getting a squishy workout.
The compost pile! Or, as I like to call it, “Mount Poo”.
Did you ever get the feeling that someone was watching you?
The cold, wet winter is taking a toll on all of us. This is Sticks. Sometimes you have a bad hair day – I think this was a bad everything day for him. Below is a picture of what he looks like when he’s having a good day. Hang in there, Sticks! Spring and summer are coming.
This is Luka, a Norwegian Fjord Horse, giving me the evil eye after I interrupted one of her escape attempts…
Late afternoon at the ranch on an unusually clear winter day. HDR image.
I don’t think he was thrilled about the snow today….
They’re talking about me. I know it.
Went to work and it was dark. Left work it was dark. Looked at the weather forecast – rain and more rain. This shot of a sleepy little guy on a warm summer day reminds me that the sun will return.
Note to self. Next time, take a few steps away from the fence before fiddling around with your camera settings…
“OK, I’m done playing in the mud. Time for a nap.”
Not a traditional shot of the ranch or the horse, but something about it appeals to me…
I took a walk during a break in the rain. One of the horses decided to give a show. These shots were taken near sunset on a cloudy day – not good for capturing fast motion. But I like the blurred effect of some of the shots.
Some shots from around the ranch that amused me.
I don’t think he was in the mood to be photographed…
“What’s going on out there???”
Playing “hide and go seek” with the horses can be fun, but it isn’t very challenging…
They looked very guilty when I walked by. I think they’re plotting something.
“I’m ready for my close-up….”
“It’s cold and cloudy and I’m bored….”
“On my back – still bored…”
