I was traveling along the Yaak River in northwestern Montana when I saw a sign for “Yaak Falls”. I thought – great! – a waterfall! It will be spectacular! Majestic! Then I arrived at the waterfall and discovered it was maybe five feet high. But it was a nice place to relax for a while – watch and listen to the rush of the water.
still beautiful, nonetheless!
38 years ago, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I lived at the Mouth of the Yaak River, on Oak Creek. The place I lived was a three story ‘home’ built with rough-cut slats and cardboard. Having been raised in a 3-room house, insulated with sawdust, on the Upper Blackfoot River, this wasn’t strange to me. This was before the Dam was built at the Yaak Falls. They were GORGEOUS! Long and sweeping. A HUGE waste of beauty and rare scenery, in my opinion. Beautiful Photos!
