I was up in the Cascades setting up a shot of snow blowing off a mountain peak. I saw a bird flying into frame and thought “OMG!!!!! An eagle!!!!”. I fired away and this was the result. It wasn’t an eagle – I think it was a very big raven. Almost trashed the shot because the focus and framing are a bit off but there is something about it that I like. So here it is.

Beautiful! Focus and framing are not the totality of a good photograph, this is a good photograph because it speaks to the viewer. I can feel the air currents and hear the bird call and feel the chill of the air, just by looking at this, good shot!
I always find it difficult to judge the size of a bird in flight.
